
This stately historic home is located on the corner of Garden Lane and Kingston Avenue in the Celery Flats Historic Area. Constructed in 1846, Stuart Manor is a “four-square” Greek Revival house and is the oldest remaining structure in Portage. Built by William Welch, the house was the summer home of the second Michigan U.S. Senator Charles Stuart.

Reservations: Stuart Manor can be reserved 12 months in advance once the cultural programming events have been scheduled for the months of May through August. Damage deposit of $150 is due within 2 weeks of making your reservation. The rental fee will be due the week of your rental.

Rules and Regulations:

The damage deposit and/or rental fees will be returned if the rental is cancelled within 2 weeks of payment. After that period, 50% of the fees will be returned if cancelled at least 2 weeks prior to the rental date. Any later cancellation will result in 100% forfeiture.

Rice, birdseed, confetti or similar items are prohibited

Battery operated candles are allowed. Open flames are prohibited in historic buildings

Stuart Manor and its surrounding area must be left in proper condition and the keys must be returned or the damage deposit will be forfeited.

Reserving parties must be finished by 10:00 p.m. and cleaned up by 10:30 p.m.

Parking is required across Garden Lane at Celery Flats Interpretive Center

Stuart Manor is an alarmed facility. Please do not enter the building outside of your rental period.
