2013 Recycled Art in the Park Contest

Calling all artists! The Portage Park Board is seeking submission of creations using materials that would normally be thrown away and recycled into original works of art! The deadline for entries is Friday, March 1, 2013, with judging conducted on Saturday, May 4, 2013 and prizes awarded Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Celery Flats Historical Area. Participants will be limited to the first 20 entries.  Artworks will be installed and displayed outdoors.

This is a non-juried art show created as a venue for artists to express their creativity and create public awareness about recycling. Public voting and judging will be conducted, with prizes awarded on the last day of the event in a variety of categories, including a Popular Choice from public voting. A panel of area artists will judge the artwork based on adherence to the recycling content for eligibility, with 60% creative use of materials as they were not originally intended and 40% overall artistry and originality.

Entry is open to everyone, including artists and class submissions. Express your creativity by giving unused items a new life as art. View detailed instructions and entry forms.
