Home Improvement Funds Available
Are you thinking about home improvement projects either inside or outside your home? Are they projects that need to be completed before the arrival of old man winter? If so, you still have time. If you own and occupy a home located in the City of Portage, the following home improvement programs are available to income-eligible families:
Housing Rehabilitation Program:Up to $10,000 no-interest and low interest loans for a variety of home repairs, including furnace repair and replacement, roofing repair and replacement, weatherization activities, sewer and water connections, plumbing upgrades, electrical upgrades and other necessary interior and exterior repairs.
Emergency Repair Grant Program:
Up to $1,000 to complete household repairs that pose an immediate threat to the health, safety and welfare of the residents. The City of Portage is prepared to quickly assist homeowners who have an emergency situation.
Eligibility for all programs is based on maximum income limits established annually by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and are shown in the table below.

* No-interest Deferred Matching Loans also available for every dollar the home owner contributes toward rehabilitation costs.
