Portage Senior Center Closed for Renovations the Week of January 7 - 11

The Portage Senior Center (PSC) will be closed January 7 – 11, 2013 for building renovations and improvements that include new paint, flooring and furnishings and a new key-card check-in system.  All services will be discontinued during the week, including the Senior Services Inc., Congregate Dining site. Local Rotary groups will still meet in the Senior Center at their regularly scheduled time and location.

Funding for the project includes $25,000 in City of Portage Capital Improvement funds, a gift of $2,500 from the Friends of the Portage Senior Center and $3,000 from a private donor for new furnishings in the lobby area.

Jill Hess, Deputy Director of Recreation and Senior Citizens Services said, “The Senior Center is fortunate to have the support of the City of Portage and its other donors to be able to make these needed facility improvements.”  Hess said PSC patrons have been very cooperative and patient with occasional interruptions in schedules and classes during this process.  Participants are excited about the changes and are looking forward to a refreshing change in the facility.
