Invitation for Input: Parks 5-Year Recreation & Open Space Plan Workshop

The City of Portage has initiated a planning process to update the Portage Parks 5-Year Recreation & Open Space Plan.  The general public was invited to attend an informational workshop on Monday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Portage City Hall to discuss the recreational needs of the city and its residents.  The purpose of the workshop was to gather community input on the current condition of the Portage park system and to discuss ideas for future park and trail development.

Attendees were asked to share their vision and ideas for enhancements to the Portage park system, as well as cultural and recreational programming. Landscape architects from VIRIDIS Design Group facilitated the discussion.  Input received from the public at the workshop will be used to help formulate the goals and objectives of the 5-Year Recreation & Open Space Plan.

For those unable to attend the workshop, an online survey will be available during the month of October for residents to provide feedback on the Portage park system and submit ideas for the future.  The survey includes questions such as the frequency that the respondent uses city parks and the importance of certain park characteristics.  Click here to complete the survey.
