Living the Dream: A Musical Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. / Brazil Dennard Chorale

2/24/2017 7:00 PM

Where: Portage Northern High School Auditorium

On Friday, February 24, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Portage Northern High School Auditorium, the City of Portage will sponsor an event that recognizes our community’s ongoing commitment to promote and celebrate diversity. The Brazeal Dennard Chorale will headline an event designed to bring focus upon our goal to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday and Black History Month. The Brazeal Dennard Chorale is an historic choral group dedicated to the preservation and performance of spiritual music that projects the African American experience and culture through music to its enthralled audiences. From Detroit, the Brazeal Dennard Chorale is led by its Artistic Director, Alice McAllister Tillman. “It is very exciting to have such a distinguished vocal chorale join us here in Portage to celebrate diversity in our community,” said City Manager Laurence Shaffer. Portage’s own Romeo Phillips, PhD will be the master of ceremonies for the event. Both the concert and the performance are free to the public. We hope you will attend and participate in this community celebration.
