2010 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)
Submission Announcement
The Portage Police Department has submitted an application for the 2010 JAG local solicitation in the amount of $11,949.00 to be used in support of technology and equipment for local law enforcement personnel to improve or enhance the criminal justice system and information sharing.
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program (42 U.S.C. 3751(a)) is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions. JAG funds support all components of the criminal justice system, from multijurisdictional drug and gang task forces to crime prevention and domestic violence programs, courts, corrections, treatment, and justice information sharing initiatives.
The City of Portage invites citizens to comment on the JAG application. A copy of the application is available for review at the Portage Police Department, located at 7810 Shaver Road, Portage, Michigan. This draft document will be available through August 9, 2010.
