Bird Watching in Portage

The Portage Parks and Recreation Department would like to encourage area residents to get outdoors and experience the fun of bird watching. Through assistance from the Kalamazoo Nature Center, a Portage Parks Bird List has been developed that identifies the various bird species that may be found in several park locations. You are encouraged to print this list and begin a personal diary of bird sightings. This can be a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors for individuals, families and groups alike. If you happen to spot additional birds not included in the list, please notify the Parks Department either by email or phone (269-329-4522) with the bird specie, location and the date of the sighting.
