Notice of Parks Recreation & Open Space Plan 5-Year Plan Update 

Public Review and Comment


A draft of the Portage Parks Recreation & Open Space 5-year Plan Update is available for public review and comment until December 3, 2022 at 5 PM.  Interested residents may review the plan and provide comments toward the final plan.  Two public hearings are scheduled with the first held during the Portage Park Board meeting on December 7 at 6:30 PM at the Parks and Recreation Building (320 Library Lane).  The second public hearing will be held during the Planning Commission meeting on December 15 at 7 PM at Portage City Hall (7900 South Westnedge Avenue).

Enjoying the Outdoors

The Parks & Recreation Division oversees 18 park sites located throughout the City of Portage; manages the protection of natural and physical city assets and provides recreation, cultural, and leisure programs for resident enjoyment. The department manages the popular Celery Flats Historical Area, Ramona Park beach, and the Millennium Park Ice Rink. Numerous rental facilities are available to residents, schools, and groups for a variety of events including weddings, banquets, graduations, and meetings.
