The City of Portage Spring Cleanup Program of unwanted household items has been rescheduled. The program will run from Monday, June 1 through Thursday, July 2. Residents can view the new collection map and program details at portagemi.gov/283.
The Spring Cleanup Program, initially scheduled to begin in April, was postponed by Waste Management due to COVID-19 and Governor Whitmer’s Stay Home, Stay Safe Executive Order. Since outdoor business activities have recently been exempted from the Executive Order, this program can now be conducted. “We are so pleased to be able to reschedule the Spring Cleanup Program,” said City Manager Joe La Margo. “It’s such a popular service in Portage and we’re eager to get the program underway.”
Residents are asked to place unwanted materials at the curb by 7 AM on their particular collection date. Materials may be placed curbside up to three days prior to the pickup date. Collection will only occur once in each zone.
Questions regarding the Spring Cleanup Program can be directed to the Department of Public Works at 329-4444.
