National Falls Prevention Week: Promoting Safety and AwarenessNational Falls Prevention Week, observed annually in September, aims to raise awareness about the critical issue of fall-related injuries among older adults. Falls are a leading cause of injury for seniors, often resulting in severe consequences such as fractures, hospitalizations, and even loss of independence. This week serves as a reminder for communities to prioritize fall prevention strategies and promote safe environments for our aging population. At Portage Zhang Senior Center, we are committed to supporting the health and well-being of our members. In line with this mission, we are excited to introduce our new Fall Prevention Assessment Tool. This innovative resource will help our members identify personal risk factors for falls and provide tailored recommendations to enhance their safety at home and in the community. This new tool is a self-assessment that allows individuals to assess their risk, and then determine which PZSC fitness programs are most appropriate for them. By participating in this assessment, members will gain valuable insights and practical tips to mitigate their risk of falling. Ask a PZSC staff member for a copy of the assessment tool.
