  2. Great American Campout

    The National Wildlife Federation “Great American Campout” has moved to Schrier Park! Reserve your site today for the whole family – spaces are limited for this classic summer experience. Enjoy s'mores and other campfire snacks plus dinner and breakfast (included in the price). Learn survival skills, play camp games and create classic camp crafts. To end the evening, enjoy a bonfire or Ranger-led night hike. Provide your own tent for this event; if you need assistance finding or renting a tent, please call Portage Parks & Recreation. Check-in and camp set-up will begin at 3 PM on Saturday, June 25 with check-out on Sunday, June 26 by 10:30 AM. Restrooms will be open during this event. Scholarships are available. Register by June 12.

  4. Adult Fall Softball - Co-ed and Men's Registration Begins

    June 27, 2022, All Day

    Join us for a seven-week fall softball season, Mondays through Thursdays, beginning the week of August 8. A minimum of four teams are needed to run a division. Game duration will be 60 minutes and have earlier start times beginning in September to adjust for the diminishing sunlight. Registration opens on June 27 with a registration deadline of July 22. Season begins August 8.

  6. Summer Concert Series - The Governor's Own 126th Army Band

    Overlander Bandshell

    Enjoy a music filled summer with the Summer Concert Series! Each month features a different genre of music that is fun for all ages. Bring a chair or blanket and don't forget to leave a little room for busting a move. Come support the 126th Army Band of the Michigan National Guard for this bonus performance! Stationed in Belmont, the band is commanded by Chief Warrant Officer Three, Kimberly Ferrante from Lake Orion. The First Sergeant is Andrew Schwallier from Grand Rapids and the Drum Major is Staff Sergeant Chris Hurban from Portage. During their performance, the band will break into smaller teams to include a Brass Band, Rock Band, Ceremonial Band, and Jazz Combo. Admission is FREE to the Summer Concert Series thanks to our series sponsor, the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo!
