    The Portage Farmers Market opens June 7 and will run through October 25, every Sunday from 10 AM – 2 PM. Browse local vendors offering fresh produce, meat, eggs, fruits, baked goods, flowers, crafts, gifts, while enjoying music from local performers, and more!   2. Kid's Try-It Sports

    Summer is the time to try new things! We offer two great opportunities for your little ones, ages 4-5 & 6-7, to have a hands-on experience with new sports or arts activities. Both programs are six-week introductory programs. To register, visit mypark.portagemi.gov and click on the purple Recreation Activities & Facility Rentals button beginning May 4. Registration deadline is June 10. Space is limited with a maximum of 10 kids per session. Every week, kids will experience playing a different sport by practicing fun drills and games. In addition to practicing the basics of each sport, kids will learn sportsmanship, teamwork and to try, try again!

  6. YMCA Youth Tennis Camps

    Participants will acquire basic knowledge of all strokes with an emphasis on playing points on a scaled-down court utilizing developmental equipment. Match situations will be introduced. We will be moving to Ramona Park (8600 South Sprinkle Road) to make sure we have enough space to maintain social distancing for the drive in. Parking will be in the football fields. Some of your local food trucks will be available for take-out from 5 - 8 PM. Feel free to eat by your vehicle or take it home. Then you and your family can enjoy a movie from your vehicle beginning around 9 PM. You will be able to hear the movie from a radio station in your vehicle. No other concessions will be available for purchase.

    Be your own bike mechanic with this bike repair clinic put on by Open Roads of Kalamazoo. This program is for students ages 5 - 18. Participants must bring in their own bike and each student will have access to mechanic instructors, bike specific tools and replacement bike parts. Don’t have a bike, but would like to participate?   11. Science Teller - Dragons: "Return of the Ice Sorceress"

    In a faraway world, two brave young villagers go on a daring journey to release the dragons and save the entire kingdom from the Evil Ice Sorceress. Throughout this fantasy story, we use awesome science experiments to bring the action to life! After we’ve saved the kingdom, we’ll revisit the special effects from the story and explore the science of dry ice. Volunteers from the audience will get a chance to launch a flying rocket, create fog-filled bubbles, and even touch a cloud!

    Nothing says Portage Summer like playing pickleball. Two six-week sessions are offered over the summer for each league. Competitive League: This league is for the competitive pickleball player. Games will be played to 11 or 15 points. Points will be kept and your score will move you up or down a court the following week. Competition is key.

    Nothing says Portage Summer like playing pickleball. Two six-week sessions are offered over the summer for each league. Intermediate League: This league is for the person who wants more competition than the Recreational league, but less than the Competitive league. You will play with all the people at your particular park, and will move up, or down a court if you win or lose your game. Points will not be kept from week to week.
