Planning & Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Department manages how land is used and developed within the City of Portage. It enforces zoning regulations, reviews development proposals, and ensures projects meet local ordinances and long-term planning goals. The department also prepares long-range plans, such our Capital Improvement Plan, Master plan, and Comprehensive plans. Its overall mission is to protect community character, support responsible development, and help residents and businesses navigate land-use requirements.
All Pre-Application Meetings for Commercial Development Projects require a completed Development Review Application. For additional information and guidance through this process, please contact our Planning Team.
