The City of Portage provides inclusive programs for residents and non-residents with special needs.
Creative Corners
Tailored to students with special needs and artists of all abilities, Creative Corners allows participants to follow a lead artist through projects and experiment with artistic expression. These one-hour workshops feature special art topics providing artists with the opportunity to explore different mediums to develop their unique artistic practice. Space is limited. Please wear clothing that can get messy, as students will explore different artistic mediums. The program fee covers all materials. Participants are encouraged to bring a chaperone. The registration fee is waived for chaperones. Artwork designed during this program may be featured in future art exhibits.
Kingpins Drumline
Students with special needs are invited to join a five-week drumming program designed for performers of different abilities. Drumming provides an exciting and inclusive way for each participant to express themselves. Led by an experienced instructor, each one-hour session will help students develop listening skills, follow instructions, and learn the art of collaboration through music. Chaperones are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Live Performance
The Kingpins Drumline presents a LIVE percussion performance for family, friends, and fans. Rock out and support drumline performers with special needs by attending their finale performance. Afterward, enjoy local musicians and food trucks at Friday at the Flats.
