The Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon will wind through the City of Portage on Sunday, May 5 utilizing the scenic trails of the Portage Creek Bicentennial Park (PCBP) Trail and city streets. Runners will enter the city at Kilgore Road and Burdick Street, then access the PCBP Trail using the Trailhead parking lot located at the corner of East Kilgore Road and Lovers Lane.
The intersections shown below will close intermittently on Sunday morning as runners are actively crossing. The roads will be open, but runners will have the right of way. Portage Department of Public Safety officers will monitor the intersections and direct traffic through the intersections during race gaps. Motorists can expect delays during these times:
- Burdick Street & Kilgore Road 7:30 AM – 10:00 AM
- Kilgore Road & Lovers Lane 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Lovers Lane & Winters Drive 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Garden Lane & Lovers Lane 7:50 AM – 10:50 AM
- Lovers Lane / Romence Road Parkway 7:45 AM – 11:00 AM
- Portage Road / Lansing Avenue 7:45 AM – 11:00 AM
- Portage Road / Ramona Lane 7:45 AM – 11:15 AM
- Portage Road / Stryker Way* 8:00 AM – 11:15 AM
- Lovers Lane / East Milham Avenue 8:00 AM – 11:45 AM
* Stryker parking lots will be accessible from the east via the southern Stryker Way entrance; the northern Stryker Way entrance off Portage Road and the entrance off Lovers Lane will be barricaded and closed.
The Trailhead parking lot at Kilgore Road and Lovers Lane will be closed Saturday, May 4, 2024, at sunset through Sunday, May 5, 2024, at noon for runner safety. Alternate parking to access the PCBP Trail is available at Portage Creek Bicentennial Park located at 910 East Milham Road and Celery Flats located at 7335 Garden Lane.
