The City of Portage 2024 Street Chip and Fog Seal Program aims to extend the lifespan of selected streets through essential maintenance. The program includes the application of a chip seal process, followed by a sealing of the newly installed chip seal with an emulsion fog spray, and sweeping to remove any loose stones.
Pavement Maintenance Systems of Imlay City, Michigan, will execute the 2024 Chip and Fog Sealing Program. The chip sealing is set to begin on Monday, June 10, and is expected to be completed by Friday, June 14, weather permitting. Fog sealing will take place shortly thereafter. The streets scheduled for this project are:
- East Osterhout Avenue (Portage Road to South Westnedge Avenue)
- Angling Road (West Centre Avenue to Romence Road)
- Gladys Street (South Westnedge Avenue to 304 Gladys Street)
- Gladys Street (304 Gladys Street to Newport Road)
- Newport Road (Gladys Street to East Milham Avenue)
- Oakland Drive (West Centre Avenue to Katie Court)
- East Milham Avenue (South Sprinkle Road to city limit)
- Meredith Street (South Sprinkle Road to East Kilgore Road)
During paving operations, at least one lane of traffic will remain open at all times. To ensure the safety of motorists and contracted workers and to facilitate the smooth and efficient completion of the project, we kindly request that all vehicles be removed from the roadway during the work period.
