On Thursday, July 11, 2024, beginning at 9:30 PM, the northbound curb lane of South Westnedge Avenue will be closed at Portage Crossing Drive, and Portage Crossing Drive will be closed to traffic. These closures are necessary for a nighttime utility investigation in preparation for the city's construction project to install a storm sewer relief connection from South Westnedge Avenue to a stormwater retention facility to the east. Traffic control devices will be removed early on Friday, July 12, and South Westnedge Avenue and Portage Crossing Drive will be reopened to traffic.
Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling northbound on South Westnedge Avenue and accessing the businesses and restaurants on Portage Crossing Drive during construction hours. Construction of the storm sewer relief system, aimed at alleviating recurring flooding in the area, is scheduled to begin July 21, 2024, contingent on weather conditions and material availability.
