The Summer Concert Series Concludes with The Windbreakers (70s & 80s Music)
Portage Parks & Recreation closes out the Summer Concert Series on Thursday, August 7, at 7 PM with music from the 70s and early 80s performed by The Windbreakers at the Overlander Bandshell, 7810 Shaver Road. The Windbreakers are a true embodiment of the era when pina coladas, ocean breezes, and afternoon delights ruled the day. Fly Like the Wind and Drift Away in the Summer Breeze as you enjoy the sounds of soft rock.
Come early at 6 PM to enjoy the opening act, Mike Talbot, and do the Lido Shuffle to great Americana and Classic Hits. Top Shelf Catering and Coffee Rescue will be on site selling food and beverages throughout the evening. The Portage Parks Foundation will be selling beer and wine (21+, valid ID required), with proceeds supporting the Portage Parks system. There is plenty of lawn seating, so bring a chair or blanket, wear your best Hawaiian shirt, deck shoes, and 70s or 80s garb to set the mood for dancing All Night Long.
Limited parking with a shuttle service begins at 5 PM and is first-come, first-served. A drop-off loop is available behind the Portage Department of Public Safety for those with limited mobility. The Central Park parking lot is reserved for those with special needs. Additional parking is available at Portage City Hall, the Portage Zhang Senior Center, and the Portage Community Center.
The concert is FREE and open to the public thanks to the series sponsors, the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, and the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation! For more information, visit our Facebook page @CityofPortageMI or call Portage Parks & Recreation at (269) 329-4522.
