On Friday, October 4, 2019, from 4 - 7 PM, in partnership with the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, Recycled Art in the Park & Art Hop are combined as Art Hop “South.” Stroll through artist exhibitions featuring various mediums of art including oil, pottery, acrylic and more. Enjoy live music, food and beverages available for purchase from the on-site food truck and beer tent. Art Hop “South” venues include Celery Flats, Portage City Hall and the Portage District Library.
This event also kicks off the Recycled Art in the Park contest, a sculpture contest and exhibition featuring sculptures made with materials that would normally be thrown away. Public voting and judging will be conducted with prizes awarded in a variety of categories. A panel of area artists will judge the artwork. Eat, drink and dance while pondering your Recycled Art in the Park People’s Choice vote. The contest sculptures will be displayed at the Celery Flats Historical Area for public viewing through Saturday, October 12.
