As part of the Lake Center District Area project, the City of Portage will hold a Placemaking 101 workshop on Wednesday, July 22 from 6 to 8 PM. The workshop will be held virtually, being broadcast live on Spectrum channel 995 and AT&T U-Verse channel 99, and live-streamed at https://portagemi.viebit.com/?folder=ALL. The public can participate by calling 844-854-2222, access code 529853#. To ask a question or make a comment, the caller can press *6 to enter the queue.
These arrangements are different than what was published in the July Portager. The Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department (HCS) has interpreted the Governor’s most recent Administrative Order to mean that only ten individuals may gather indoors. HCS is the authority in this matter as determined by the Governor’s office. Therefore, the Lake Center District Area Placemaking 101 workshop must be held 100% virtually. No accommodations will be available for in-person attendance.
The workshop will consist of a presentation by the city’s consultant, Farr & Associates, concerning placemaking and planning. A time for public comments and questions will be conducted at the end of the workshop, at which time the phone queue will be opened.
