[ARCHIVED] Be Bright! Free Bike Lights on Bike to School Day

Be Bright

Portage Parks & Recreation plans to illuminate cyclists on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. Free bike light sets will be handed out to riders wishing to increase their visibility. This free give-away is made possible through Bike Friendly Kalamazoo. Meet Portage Parks and Recreation staff at the Celery Flats Pavilion (7335 Garden Lane) between 5:30 and 7:00 PM, with your bike. Staff will even install the lights for you and give you a brief tutorial on how they work. This event is first come, first served, while supplies last.

Please remember to practice social distancing by remaining six feet apart from others and sanitize hands before each installation. To ensure your safety, staff will be wearing masks. This event incorporates two ideas that the City of Portage considers important: National Bike to School Day (October 7) and Be Bright!

For more information, please call Portage Parks & Recreation at 329-4522.
