We invite you to participate in making the Lake Center District Vibrant, Beautiful, and Safe!
The Portage City Council received the Draft Final Lake Center District Corridor and Placemaking Study in a Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, April 27. At this meeting, the design consultant presented the final draft of the plan to the Council, which has been recommended unanimously by the Lake Center District Steering Committee. Councilmembers reviewed the plan for the first time since receiving all of the public input and had the opportunity to ask questions. Please know that the City Council did not make any decisions about the plan at this meeting.

The City Council will continue to receive feedback during a public comment period, a public meeting, and a public hearing before the City Council takes a final vote. The public comment period will run from April 28 through May 23. On Saturday, May 15, from 12 - 3 PM, the city will hold an open house at Lakeview Park, in the heart of the Lake Center District. City staff and Steering Committee members will be on-site where interested individuals can view display boards and study details, ask questions and provide public feedback. After the May 15 open house on a date yet to be determined, the City Council will meet to consider final approval of the study, which will include a public hearing.
Additional updates will be provided through Notify Me, the city website, Facebook, and the news media.
