The City of Portage annual spring collection programs include separate dates for the collection of unwanted household materials and brush/bagged leaves. To better align with seasonal weather conditions and to allow extra time for residents to perform yard clean-up tasks after the snow melts, the collection of brush and bagged leaves will occur in May, rather than April, requiring a change to dates for the collection of unwanted household materials.
The Spring Cleanup Program – the collection of unwanted household materials – will be conducted from March 28 through April 28. Unwanted household items should be placed at the curb by 7 AM on the collection day.
The Curbside Brush Collection will begin on May 2 in Zone 1 (the northwest quadrant of the city) and run through May 27. The spring Curbside Brush Collection also includes the collection of bagged leaves in biodegradable paper bags. Brush and bagged leaves should be placed by the curb by 7 AM on the Monday of the collection week.
The City of Portage Compost Facility will be open on Saturday, May 28. Residents may drop off brush and bagged leaves between 9 AM and 1 PM. The compost facility is located at 10905 Oakland Drive, just south of West Osterhout Avenue.
