Portage residents, business owners, and stakeholders are invited to attend the interviews of the three finalists for Portage City Manager. The candidates will be interviewed in the following order:
- Peter Dame – City Manager, City of Grosse Pointe
- Patrick McGinnis – City Manager, City of Grand Haven
- Jade Smith – Municipal Services Manager, Canton Township
Interviews will be approximately 60 minutes in length and will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Portage City Hall (Council Chambers), 7900 South Westnedge Avenue. The interviews are open to the public and can also be viewed live on cable television on Charter Channel 995 and AT&T Channel 99 or live streamed at portagemi.viebit.com/index.php?folder=ALL.
The public is also invited to submit questions for the candidates in advance of the interviews. To submit a question in advance, please visit portagemi.gov/FormCenter/City-Clerk-6/Interview-Questions-121. Hard copy forms are also available by visiting Portage City Hall. All questions must be submitted before 12 noon on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Individuals may submit only one question per person. The question must be one that can be posed to all three candidates (no candidate-specific questions). All questions submitted will be reviewed by the Portage Office of the City Manager and the Department of Human Resources for relevance and applicability. The city offers no guarantee that a submitted question will be asked.
