Following additional testing on August 14, 2018, the Kalamazoo County Department of Environmental Health advised the City of Portage that the water at Ramona Park Beach on Long Lake is safe for swimmers. Weekly water sampling will continue throughout the beach season. The beach, along with the all the amenities – lifeguards, boat rentals, concessions, picnic areas, fishing dock, beach volleyball, playground and changing rooms – is open for business daily from 10 AM to 7 PM.
Entry to Ramona Park Beach for Portage residents is FREE for the 2018 season. A $10 daily permits for non-resident entry can be purchased on site near the park entrance during regular beach hours. All watercraft rentals are $12 for the first hour, $5 for each additional 30 minutes or a $36 flat rate for 4-6 hours. Come out and enjoy what’s left of the season before the beach closes on Labor Day.
