City Hall and other non-emergency offices are open today. Our DPW crews and Public Safety employees have been working all night and continue this morning to remove trees and limbs from roadways. You may notice that some roads are blocked which likely means that there are power lines down and/or tangled in trees. We must wait for the utility companies to clear these hazards before we can remove the trees/limbs.
As you begin to clean up your property, be aware that the City of Portage compost facility is open today and tomorrow (Friday) from 8 AM to 5 PM for resident drop-off services. The compost facility is located at 10905 Oakland Drive, just south of Osterhout Avenue. Additional cleanup services are being considered; however, the focus today is on safely getting roads open and passable.
If you are out on the roads or in your yard today, use caution. Stay away from down utility lines and be aware that trees and limbs are continuing to fall.
