In response to the February 22, 2023 ice storm, the Department of Public Works will conduct a special brush collection starting March 6. The collection will take place in three zones as identified here. Residents can begin placing brush and limbs (no leaves) at the curb immediately. Residents are asked to place brush at the curbside by 7 AM on the designated Monday for the special collection zone. Branches should be between 4 and 6 feet long and less than 3 inches in diameter. Each street will be cleared one time and each zone will be cleared within its designated week. Crews cannot return to pick up brush placed out late. For complete information, visit portagemi.gov/280. The City of Portage Compost Facility will be open today until 5 PM and every Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM through the end of March for resident drop-off services. The compost facility is located at 10905 Oakland Drive, just south of Osterhout Avenue.
