Block Party Application
The City of Portage encourages community and promotes block parties as a way for neighbors to get to know each other. The block party application process is quick and easy. Simply complete the application and your application will be received and reviewed by city staff. Neighborhood block parties are limited to being held on residential streets. Please allow staff up to five business days to review and process the application. Additional information about block parties can be obtained by contacting the Office of the City Clerk at 329-4511.

Barricades
Barricades are available upon request and may be picked up from the Department of Public Works at:
7719 S. Westnedge Avenue
Portage, MI 49002
Contact: (269) 329-4444
Barricades must be placed so emergency equipment such as Police, Fire and Ambulance can enter the area if needed. Barricades should be placed at the beginning and end of the location of the block party to discourage traffic from driving through the area.
Noise Ordinance
Review the noise ordinance. Every block party must abide by the City of Portage Code of Ordinances Noise Ordinance. Please take time to review the noise ordinance before planning your block party by following the link above.
Alcoholic Beverages
Be aware that if alcoholic beverages are served, it must be done in compliance with Local and State Ordinances.
